[RC] Calories burned riding - rides2far

Just sitting at the table reading the magazine that's put out by the
local hospital. They did an article urging people to "get active" and
centered it around the possibilities at the Chickamauga Battlefield,
which happens to have a very popular horse trail that's used pretty
heavily by the local endurance riders. Can't help but think they noticed
us since they added the following fact:

"Horseback riding, especially trotting and cantering, increases both the
respiratory and circulatory systems. A 150-pound person can burn between
315 and 480 calories per hour."

I'll bet the ones that ride along at a walk while drinking beer read that
and wonder why they're not losing weight. >g< Sometimes I feel bad about
not losing weight...then I look at everyone else my age who look like
they've been sucking on an air hose, and figure maybe riding is why I'm
not GAINING weight. :-)
