Re: [RC] Generator info and other help needed - Laney Humphrey

Here's my list of ultimate specs in the order I thought of them:
1.large refrigerator
2.sink
3.comfy seating and a flat surface to eat on
4.solar panels - quiet, don't need fuel & can run everything except a microwave, AC/heater
5.lots of storage for clothes, boots, food which means either great cabinetry or lots of thought about hanging storage that will keep things from falling out.
6.comfy mattress with insulation on the bottom from the cold

Things I would do differently if I were outfitting an LQ shell
1. make sure the reefer is at least 6 cu.ft.
2. no microwave or AC since I never am anywhere I can plug in and I don't want to give up space for a generator
3. no shower - very prone to disastrous leaks and take up too much space
I'd do a cowboy shower in the rear of the trailer or continue to use my trusty solar shower back there
4. Subsitute a small porta potty for a built-in toilet - much easier to dump
5. add at least one if not 2 Fantastic fans to draw heat out

Sandy, obviously this is based on my personal experiences given the kind of rides I go to. You don't say how many people will be using the LQ or where you go rides so what you need might differ.

Generators available at Costco:
1). Coleman Powermate premium plus, 5500 running watts, 6875 maximum watts = $550, 11 horsepower, 5 gallon gas tank, (4) 120 v outlets and (1) 240 outlet, includes 1 quart of engine oil (my daughter thought I should add this in)
2). Powerwise 3000 running, 3500 peak watts = 270, 6.5 horsepower, 4 gallon gas tank, (2) 120 v outlets and (1) 240 outlet, 1 bottle of oil with easy pour cap (yeah, yeah, yeah)

I'm outfitting my LQ shell, so what generator, including those not listed, should I get? Ultimate spec's for the trailer, propane 2 burner stove, microwave/convection oven combo, shower, lights (internal and external), heat/air combo, etc. It's a 3 horse slant load with a 5 1/2 foot shortwall currently with insulation and a water tank. Any other "tips"?? Oh, and I'll be adding an awning (so sources would be helpful).

I'm a natural blonde . . . (my hubby is the engineering type, great at fixing things and really smart) - so feel free to put in technical reasons why/why not certain things. All comments would be appreciated - even from you Dr. Q!!! And yes, I'm a 'big girl' but if you make fun of blonde's I'll be sure to 'return the favor'!!!

Thanks,
