To add a bit of information to the debate, I do have some
difficulties to understand why the Shagya Arabians are so highly priced in the USA.
Here attached a price list that I took directly from the Babolna
Stud : at the left the price (in euro) of the colts.
Concerning endurance, the best performing Shagya (I’m not really
sure that he is registered in a Shagya Studbook) is Outlaw Persik, by Persik
out of a Shagya mare. Outlaw Persik won Florac in ’89 and finished in the topten
of the WEC in Stockholm in ’90. Later the stallion was
bought by the French National Stud (Haras Nationaux) to become a sire. Unfortunately
he died 2 years later.
Georgat, World Champion 2005 is by Outlaw Persik. Most of
his get (sired during the 2 years servicing for the Haras) performed very well.
