Re: [RC] worming question for Susan - Laney HumphreyHave you considered that she might have an allergy to flies? It's sometimes called sweet itch & is an allergy to the saliva I think. Horse's with it rub their tails and manes.Laney Nancy wrote: Our lovely Lyric has, again, rubbed her tail almost off after several worming RX's. My vet tells me she has encountered several cases of resistant worms (pin worms, I believe). So I am of the mind to give Lyric a 5 day Pancur purge. I have reviewed the archives and just need to check to see if the previous recommendation of 5 days of double dosage followed several weeks later by ivermection is still correct. My second question regards the use of cattle/livestock pancur. The correct dosage is about 50 mg for a 800 lb horse? Many thanks for you suggestions and help. Nancy Reed Lazy J Ranch Elfin Forest, CA PS I rode for a few minutes yesterday, what a thrill! Between PT, chiro visits and the dentist I have no life. My back is so very slowly improving, but I will not be able to ride (as in train/LD) for some time. Yesterday we spread Jerry's ashes by the creek. Our horses knew what we were doing. Lyric wrapped her neck around Danielle and held her for several minutes. I was on Sierra our 25 year old quarter horse who was her perfect self. It was a beautiful day in spite of the sadness we all felt. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
