RE: [RC] Shoot the Clones - Tracey LomaxCarla wrote: Concerning the "health flaw" I was speaking of -- from what I've read about clones, especially Dolly the ewe, there are flaws, or defects, due to the cloning process itself. There are health problems that the clone can have, defective organs, whatever, that the original animal does not have. That's possible, but I'm fairly sure that as the cloning process improves, they'll work out these problems. Oh, and yes, I do know the Jockey Club only recognizes live cover for TBs. They're kind of old fashioned that way, thinking a mare should actually be bred by the stallion ... I've often wondered why, particularly in light of the dangers involved for both mare and stallion. I have friends who breed TBs, and they're not sure either. I was also completely blown away by the cost of a TB cover!!!! It's about five times the cost of AI from a top Warmblood. And then you have to wait for the little sucker to finish racing before it's able to do anything else! I'll just buy my cheapies off the track, thanks. t =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
