I've heard what you've heard. I'm thinkin' a lot of
horsemen/horsewomen have. It is a "clicking" sound. Sometimes, in
the hock, sometimes in the pastern.
Crepitation: The main symptoms of
osteoarthritis are pain, stiffness and swelling of the joints. The joint may
have restricted movement, and there may be tenderness or deformity. The
joint may also crack or creak (called crepitation).
