I think the above statements are very important to read...over and over, again.
 
Some of us who have "hit the wall" in other athletic endeavors (running, cycling) realize that (often) it is a combination of things that made us smack our heads into the bricks.
 
Managing a focused conditioning schedule, eating right, drinking plenty of water, and paying attention to some mineral replacement seems to work for me.
 
Folks who "run hard" need to be even MORE aware of such things...or they should slow down.
