We, too, use the method Heidi describes of leaving most stuff in the trailer all the time.  When it's ride time, we just need to pack our clothes, hay, horse feed, the appropriate tack, and any perishable food.  We have quite a bit of non-perishable food (soup, etc.) in the trailer all the time.  We have a big water tank that we put in the bed of the truck and fill.  If we had to start packing from scratch every time, we'd be doomed.  <G>
