[RC] Wrapping for long trips - Alissa Cowan

The best advice I ever got on wrapping for shipping was from my vet, to whom I shipped horses a couple times a month for appointments. Wrapping four legs for four horses when you're shipping by yourself gets tedious... So, his advice:

Which part of the leg is your horse most likely to injure while shipping, from stepping on himself or having a neighbor step on him?

Answer - coronary band and heels.

Vet recommendation - put four good bell boots on the horse, and call it good.

This provides protection to vulnerable areas, plus they won't sag or twist or be re-wrapped too tightly, PLUS it is SO MUCH easier to put on four bell boots than to wrap four legs!

Sure, this isn't going to cover every disaster, like sticking a leg through a manger. But it'll help, and it's safe.
