Re: [RC] [RC] How Long is Your Commute? - Rosalie Marley

My commute is 45 miles each way.  The 6 miles closest to my home are dirt road, and I occasionally work from home (satellite connection, too far from the villiage for dsl or cable) because I can't get down the road.  Once past the dirt road, it's a two-lane state hwy and pretty good.  This morning I saw a flock of wild turkeys (about a dozen) walking alongside the road! Normal commute time is 50-60 minutes.  I do keep my horses at home (80 acres of hayfield and pasture, 80 acres of low hillside with a trail.)

The drive really cuts into riding time (is there any other kind of time outside of work?) and I'm trying to get my bosses to let me work from home full time.  I do "computer work" and my company has offices across the US - my department is spread across the country, so it shouldn't much matter where I am.

Having said that, when I first started CTRs I worked an hour and 30-45 mins from my barn.  I conditioned twice a week after work and then on weekends and did fine, but not sure if I could have done endurance on that kind of schedule.

For those that work out of their homes (lucky you if

you have? Or what is the maximum commute you would

at home with you?
Thanks,
Val (looking at properties)
