[RC] Clipping Horses - Rebecca HackworthWhile I hail from California, I do live in the foothills where it is snowing as I type this, I do have a suggestion to consider. I think it depends on how you clip not so much where you clip. I use something called a "plucking" blade or "skip tooth" blade. It is sort of the equivalent of a #5 blade. The key is it leaves more hair on the horse. This is not a surgical clip. It is a working clip. When I clip, this is what I use. Keeps them cooler when working and warmer when not working. And much easier to clean up after working.
