[RC] Chico the Rebel: patchy sweating/fatigue - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Ray O'Donohue rno2m@xxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Need sugestions:(The vet has been called and says for now to simply keep an eye on him.Just looking for any/all ideas.)Chico,MFT,going on 19,had three fairly severe days field trialing Thurday,Friday, and Saturday.(approx 18 miles each day, about half of which was "hand gallop"/fast canter in broken terrain;of neccesaity, some of the canters were pretty long, maybe a mile.)This is the sort of thing he has done many times in the past;he has always had extremely good stamina. 2g of Bute each day as always when working hard. 26cc Lyte-Now each day at noon. He was tired, but "plenty Chico" as we rode into camp Saturday evening.Went to saddle him up Sunday a.m.,and he had sweaty armpits and belly, but no other symptoms. This was not undried sweat from Saturday evening. No sign of colic, repiratory problems, etc.Stiffness minimal and normal for a morning after FT situation. Old time horse guy looked at him and said he thought he had had a fever, but that it was passing.(We has no thermometer.) I decided not to ride him Sunday;let him rest in the the warm sun, where he ate normally.Stopped the bute, which generally is continued one extra day after a trial. Still sweaty at the armpits last nite at home, and still sweaty armpits this morning. No fever,IF my human thermometer/method was correct. Will go the vet pronto if anything severe presents itself. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
