NATRC started the Distance Only option by re-naming their old HDC (basically, 
out of the competiton) option. Riders ride for mileage only, following the 
usual vet criteria, but don't get a score or place, and don't have to do the 
obstacles. They are hoping to lure over the 25 mile LD riders from 
AERC........Think that will work?

You mentioned the new Distance Only option in NATRC -- this was approved by
the NATRC national board, and is going to be offered at all NATRC rides next
year. I think it's a great opportunity for people to try out competitive
trail riding in NATRC, without the pressure of having to complete the
"judged obstacles." I believe that the other rules of NATRC are to be
observed, however.
