Re: [RC] Treeless Saddles - Karen WilliamsI also have to disagree. Every treed saddle I've put on my horse has slipped. After long grades, I'd invariably have to get off and adjust the saddle which would slip halfway down his back. I've been riding in a treeless saddle for about a year now and it never slips or shifts. I don't need a breastplate or crupper. The only thing I have to get off for now is to put the clamps back down on his easyboots. My horse is very happy with his Barefoot treeless saddle. I've also used it on my old Arab who is a blimp and it doesn't slip on him either. Treeless saddles, in my opinion, are not much more than bareback pads. They slip and slide all over the place and on a horse with no withers and a round barrel, there is nothing to hold such a saddle in place. Getting on and off become really risky since the saddle slips so easily. There are now quite a few treed saddles designed for round, low withered horses. I'd definitely keep looking for a saddle with a tree for your safety if nothing else!
