Jules – What kind of pad are you using and did you customize it w/ shims, etc? From previous discussion, it seems the pad accounts for about 40% of the success of any given saddle w/ any given horse. Thanks. - Beverley

In fact it is  the first saddle that has ever fit her. As for the slipping when  mounting as long as my girth is tight it has never been an issue. I  have never had the saddle slip when dismounting. In fact when I ride  Lady I have never noticed the saddle move anymore than any other  saddle. I will say though that I do always ride with a breast plate and  crupper. I will agree that it is like riding with a bareback pad and  not a saddle. You have to check your girth more when using one of  these. Jules

bareback pads.  They slip and slide all over the place and on a horse
with no withers and a round barrel, there is nothing to hold such a
saddle in place.  Getting on and off become really risky since the
saddle slips so easily.  There are now quite a few treed saddles
designed for round, low withered horses.  I'd definitely keep looking
for a saddle with a tree for your safety if nothing else!
