Re: [RC] Rain - abigail MaddenAnd it can hit you and you may not recognize it. Last year at a ride in mid April, another rider and I got caught in a cold (that cold where you can see your breath and it looks like a big cloud, not a little wisp) rainstorm on top of a mountain (most of the other riders missed it, we took a wrong turn and were on the wrong part of the trail at the wrong time). We were off walking for much of the time. We came into the vet check last and then realized that we were so cold that we couldn't move our hands. I couldn't zip my own jacket, or even manipulate the buckles, snaps, etc. on my tack. Clarissa Hale (my savior, who will always have a place in my trailer) saved me by putting my jacket & gloves on for me, and opening and feeding us snickers & granola bars.
Wet & *&^%$ Cold!! And we didn't even realize how bad off we were until we stopped and that was just our hands and feet. A little longer and we could have been in big trouble. What to do? Live and learn and try not to let it happen again.
