I promise, having done one that OMG if your horse has any kind of walk
you're gonna go nut on it! Holly and I have tried them, but I've found
it's better to just leave her at home and borrow a QH for these as the boredom
factor for Holly is just too much to take. Not that they don't have their
fun times, but doing them on a horse that can outwalk most of them at a trot
(and having to stay in her face to slow her down) isn't much fun
sometimes. And, on some of them, there's even a beer wagon that
rides with...
A friend of mine sent me a site today with the note.."hey, we
should join and go with them on their rides" It was for an adult trail
riding group here in our area. I looked at the site, nodded, and thought
"well, ok..."
Then I looked at one of their ride stories. About
how they went to ride the 12.5 mile loop at a state forest. And how it
took 6 hours for them to ride it! Oh my!
I told my friend that
Alpine doesn't walk that slow BACKWARDS. I can't even begin to imagine a
2mph walk pace. Somehow, I don't see myself included on those trail
rides. "hi guys...I'll see you on my second loop!" as I corto by
at 8mph.

slow)
