Re: [RC] broken bone screws & returning to riding - Dabney Finch - Maureen A. Fager

Hi Dabney,
I broke my ankle in March '93, need 5 screws, two pins and a plate (yep, fell off a horse :) I returned to riding in Oct '93. I broke both arms last June, (yep, fell off again!) no hardware this time, returned to riding in Sept. So, how do you feel, can your wrist handle it? and does the Dr. agree?

My ankle hurt for a full year after the break, but riding did not affect it in any way. If you feel you can handle it, I would say try it. Your Dr. may recommend some type of brace or support wrap to wear, shouldn't bother your riding though.

Best,
Maureen
