[RC] WEC-USEF - FEI fact check - StephTeeter1. USEF has not made any final decisions on anything. The lowering of the mileage qualification for nominating horses is a recommendation from one committee. Decisions will be made during the meetings at the AERC convention in Reno. 2. There is a difference in 'Nominating for' and 'Competing in'. The FEI rules state that a horse must be 7 yrs old to compete in a championship Endurance event. The nomination by US riders is made 15 months before the actual event. So a rider may nominate a 6 year old horse, but it must be 7 by the time of the championship. That is also the case right now. The difference being proposed is in the experience/mileage requirement of the horse for the Nominating process. 3. FEI requires the horse/rider to qualify for a championship 160km event by completing a 160km ride in a time of 13:20 (rules effective Jan 2006, applicable to the 2006 WEC in Aachen). A horse cannot enter a Championship event unless it has completed one 160km event.
