I don't know where people get these ideas from. A few
weeks ago, I suggested to my neighbor that a warm mash of beet pulp, his
oats, some salt, & whatever else she wanted to add, would help put fluid in
her horse's gut as the horse was having trouble with the transition to our
colder weather and wasn't drinking. She just brought over the beet
pulp because she was afraid to use after some other helpful horseperson
told her that once a horse starts getting beet pulp, it will then always need
it! I advised her to do the research herself, however, I guess she just
didn't believe me. Oh well, my horses will take care of it in no
time.
Hearing this still puts a smile on my face on why would anyone
feed dry beet pulp to a horse or any living thing that they didn't want to
plug up. G.Affleck
