Re: [RC] [RC-Digest] Vol: 03.2363 boots and breakover - Chipnml

My horse--being shortbacked, high crouped and rather long legged (considering his size)--tends to forge, even after a lot of dressage work.  My farrier shoes with a slight "rocker" toe which basically sets the point of breakover back slightly and prevents his hind feet from striking the sole of his front feet.  I use easyboots in the spring before I have him shod for the ride season, and notice he does forge a bit.  Of course I would prefer to have a horse with conformation that would not make him forge, however, Cheers has stayed very sound for 12 years and 2700 miles, our only major problem was a blown tendon several years ago, which had nothing to do with the shoeing, just my stupidity :( .   I really credit my excellent farrier and his knowledge of corrective shoeing with keeping him sound and happy all these year.
