Re: [RC] Stirrup Safety - Karen SullivanI personally think a lot of stirrups are unsafe, with many english ones being no better than Western style....since I ride in running shoes I prefer stirrups with safety cages.....which many endurance stirrups have. But I still see lots of folks riding non-cage stirrups in sneakers. Then again, even with boots with a heel, if there is any case your foot can fit through you aren't safe either. There is also a new product called "toe stoppers" which can be added to any stirrups to give a safety cage.... There is just no way I could ride on the trail in Engllish stirrups...my feet and knees need that biggerplatform. Karen ----- Original Message ----- Please Reply to: Beth mefo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Hi, everyone - I was wondering about the relative safety of endurance stirrups? - I usually ride in english breakaway stirrups and I've always heard that western-style stirrups can be dangerous if you get a foot caught up in them. Are endurance stirrups any safer than regular western stirrups? Is it possible to get your feet caught in them, or does the depth of the stirrup help prevent this? I would love to have a wider, padded place to rest my feet on long trail rides!
