RE: [RC] flax seed - science, not hype - Mike SofenHere's a link to a scientific double-blind crossover study of using flax to mitigate "sweet itch" in horses. http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=227015 To summarize their findings, they fed 1 pound per 1000 pounds of weight. They were aware of the potential toxicity of flax and monitored for evidence, found none. Results were a significant reduction in the sweet itch. There is a ton of info in that article. They recommend storing ground flax in light-impervious containers.
