In this case, the word sheikh is used in the usual Islamic sense of a wise man chosen to teach Quran rather than a title as they use it for Sheikh Zayed or Sheikh Mohamed. Off hand, I find it a very interesting choice of proverbs as it can be applied a number of ways.
