Re: [RC] bananas - Lif StrandQuoted from Heidi Vanderbilt's message at 05:18 PM 12/29/2005:One of my horses LOVES bananas. I asked my vet if they were ok, and he said he didn't know and hadn't heard of any other horses who ate them. Anyone out there with knowledge of bananas for horses, or a similar experience with a horse who likes them? Several of my horses go bananas for bananas. They are a high-sugar fruit (compared to some other fruits), or so I'm told, and they have lots of potassium. I actually cheat a bit - I eat the insides of the bananas and give the peels to the horses. I wouldn't know if the nutritional analysis of the banana peel is the same as the banana fruit, but I don't feed enough of the peels to make much of a difference in my horses' diets, I suppose. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
