Just remember that a hit with a .22 beats a miss with a .44 magnum., and also beats throwing a rock. There is only one rule of gun fights "bring a gun" all the rest are corollaries and extensions. Like everything else in this world, there are tradeoffs. Larger caliber is better than smaller caliber. More shots is better than fewer shots. A firearm that is convenient to carry, and thus with you, is better than one that is home in the gun safe. A firearm you can shoot accurately is better than one you are afraid of. A reliable firearm is much much better than one that does not go bang.
