[RC] Tevis Start at Soda Springs - Steve Shaw

I was part of the group starting Tevis at Soda Springs in 1983. I vividly remember someone called "The Officer" an older gentleman of European decent, dressed accordingly, bombing down the trail at the start, out of control, foaming at the mouth. He appeared in his late 60's or whatever. I believe he crashed in the first five miles.
But I remember vividly the terror and smile on his face as he raced past me.
