That is an excellent idea but what happens when everyone does it,

On the contrary, that is a really bad idea.  If every horse has a red
ribbon in its tail, then the red ribbon becomes meaningless.

People who put red ribbons in their horses' tails even if they aren't
kickers just to keep other people off their asses, are one of the
reasons that lots of people ignore red ribbons, and therefore contribute
to people getting kicked by horses that DO kick.

I case anybody doesn't remember the fable about the boy who cried wolf,
the moral of the story is: if you make a habit of giving warnings when
there is no danger, then your warnings will be ignored even if there is
danger...and the sheep will get eaten.
