[RC] RE; Solar Hardware - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: ron shaffer ron.shaffer@xxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== While solar panels which produce electricity are an excellent choice for keeping batteries charged the size of an array necessary to produce enough electric power to provide hot water (even for a LQ trailer) would make this impractical. The size of the array would have to be as big as the trailer itself if not bigger. However, solar water heaters that have been used in homes for decades would be very adaptable to an LQ horse trailer. I had solar hot water on my home in AZ for 12 years which produced more hot water than we ever needed. I would recommend a company called Solarhart which I believe is Australian and has been making solar water heating systems for nearly 50 years. They have distributors throughout the US as well as worldwide. They have models with integrated storage tanks which should easily mount on the roof of a trailer and wouldn't be any heavier than a roof mounted water tank. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
