Re: [RC] [RC] Mileage and Distance in Perspective - Chris PausLOL... last year I took my young mare on a charity ride to get her used to being in a herd going down the trail. It was on my favorite training trails... sigh... The "leaders" were going SO slow. Now I'm not a fast rider, and usually am in the back third, but geesh, we could have taken a nap! Then they could't read the trail markings. I kept telling them which way we needed to turn, but no one listened to me. They went around all the fun parts of the trails... the hills, water crossings, etc., and short cutted through the boring stuff.... My riding partners and I finally ditched them and had our own trail ride, LOL... chris --- RDCARRIE@xxxxxxx wrote: In a message dated 2/4/2005 3:22:08 AM Eastern Standard Time, Adam and Jannelle <mfarm@xxxxxxx> writes: To theaverage rider, never mind the average person, evengoing 25 miles on ahorse in one day, IS A HECK OF A LONG WAY! ?LOL...ain't that the truth! A story - we're putting on a 2-day ride this spring, and in addition to the standard 25/50 each day, we're having a shorter (approx. 14 mile) intro ride each day to introduce new folks to the sport. A riding buddy, who is also helping put the ride on, was talking to some co-workers who were excited about doing the intro ride (the co-worker's wife is a former show jumper). Then they found out that it was 14 miles..."oh, that's WAY too far to ride!" <G> Dawn in East Texas =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
