Just a thought for what it's worth regarding LDs, (this being from someone who has done 5 of them and is aspiring to do a 50 this season).....

 

Someone else mentioned as an LDer just wanting Respect from the rest of the endurance community. However, I can't help but be struck by the thought that respect must be earned. I have already earned the respect of my non-endurance horsey-friends for doing LDs. In their eyes it is a task that is beyond them (even though it isn't) and respect me for it. Which I appreciate. But I do not have, nor do I expect to earn the "respect" of the rest of the endurance community until I truly am an endurancr rider and that will be when I complete a 50.

 

Patti F (I hope it goes without saying that respecting someone's accomplishments and being friendly/open are two different things??? I'm not saying LDers should be snubbed in any way, heck I'm one of them!)
