[RC] conditioning and then some fun - Jonni

I actually chuckled at that skill. Shoot, I've not even spent much time
working on Hanks canter, until he got the trot developed like I wanted.I
guess I'll start working on picking up the lead I WANT, before asking him to
actually change it. ;-) But, I think maybe because Truman rides where it
is fairly flat, I'd guess he uses the canter much more than those in more
mountainous regions would.

I'd rather spend the time teaching my horse to not be influenced by the
excitement of the start of the ride, than the ability to do all the things
Truman wants from his horses at that time. Nothing beats the feeling of
having the pack take off at a gallop, and my horse walk out of camp on a
loose rein.

Oh, and Truman, and I will agree with you on this statement "I've even seen
a grand prix level dressage horse spook on the trail". But, of course I have
never even SEEN a Grand Prix Level dressage horse ON the trail!!!!! <wink>
