Re: [RC] Nourishment - rdcarrie I've finally settled on lots of milk-based stuff during the ride...Ensure (chocolate flavor <G>) and yogurt smoothies (the kind you drink) work well. Hubby always makes me eat a turkey sandwich halfway thru a 50, so I do...at least part of one. Breakfast is something with protein to stick with me - maybe a boiled egg along with a yogurt. For my elytes, I drink Hydralyte (used to be called Gookinaid). If it's a hot ride, I mix it in my camelbak. If it's cool, I put plain water in my camelbak (or very dilute Hydralyte) and drink a bottle of more concentrated Hydralyte at each hold (it's a powder you mix). Gatorade is too salty for me and the taste makes me a little queasy. I'm in East Texas, where it's hot and humid most of the year, so replacing elytes is really important.
After the ride, look out. If it's not nailed down, I'm all over it. I have a voracious appetite then! <G>
