RE: [RC] bradford pear trees - Peter HarperBeth, Pear trees are OK. Our four guys loved them. ;-) I put our four in a new field last winter that had a Bradford pear tree. In a days time they ate all the low hanging twigs and leaves and most of the bark. I thought they had killed the tree for sure. Luckily this spring the tree came back. We now have a hot wire around the trees to keep the hooved beavers at bay. No ill effects on the horses eating the pear leaves. They also have a taste for our two peach trees. Now if I only could convince then to eat the cedars. Cheers, Pete in TX ------------------------------------------------------ From: beth sessoms <bethsessoms@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: [RC] bradford pear trees doe anyone know if Bradford Pear trees are toxic to horses, especially this time of year?
