You can use two really absorbent coolers, plus a
couple of elastic surcingles to snug the fabric around the horse's entire
barrel. Leave them on for a while -- the inner layer will be dry and the
outer will be soaking wet. Then brush off the salt.
I've had success with polarfleece coolers, which
can be thrown in the washer. I put them in the dryer on no-heat
-- just to get the hair off -- and then let them dry on a rack.
Polarfleece dries quickly.
