Re: [RC] re: trail ettiquette - Cindy CollinsWell, the front runner should be in front, shouldn't they? I was talking about someone like me who starts a young horse at the back of the pack after the front runners leave and THEN I get on and ride off at a slower pace. My personal complaint is with LD riders starting 5-15 mins. after the endurance riders. I also have many stories of crashes on single track trails where galloping or just plain old out of control horses crash into the sides/back of slower moving horses who can't get out of the way safely. I missed the wide road part you refer to and I agree that one could move over or get off if needed. Still as an experienced rider, I would hope that I have the courtesy and kindness that if I see someone struggling with a horse frightened or just overly excited by approaching horses, that one or two mins. isn't so important to me that I couldn't slow down and even talk with them and encourage them. Plenty of folks did that for me when I was starting and still do when I have a young horse. Seems we all have different ideas about etiquette. Thanks for sharing, Dabney.
