Re: [RC] re: trail ettiquette galloping horses - Sisu West Ranch"....if your horse cannot be safely passed by a galloping horse on a wide road, one member of your team is not ready to participate in 50 mile rides...." While I certainly agree in general, like all rules there are exceptions and general courtesy would dictate that one does not just blow by people. Exception: I rode a speed QH for 14 years under every possible condition. He was the one I put kids and grandma's on. We directed traffic on a road Wagon Train. He faced down a speeding semi and saved the train from a wreck. On a dare I once rode him a whole endurance loop without touching his reins. I could go on and on. But if a horse galloped by him, he would race and beat that horse. Period, end of discussion. It was not a matter of training, it was breeding. Races were to be won! Please note that horses passing him at a reasonable speed were no problem, it was racing that got his blood up. I don't think he was unique. Lets all pass at reasonable speeds. If we do that we all have a better chance to "Live long and prosper."
