My thanks to all who replied to my message about
the horse with the mild suspensory injury. We have an appointment Monday
afternoon to get a second opinion, and this vet will do an ultrasound
examination.
In the meantime, we are getting unrelenting rain,
which means that the horses have to stay in the sacrifice paddock, which means
they're in a sea of mud. So my guy, and a companion, are staying in their
stalls (where they normally only visit to eat 2x daily, or in case of really
horrid weather). I don't want to take a chance that Jack could
aggravate his injury by making a sudden, fast move in all that mud.
Jack is boarded on a friend's farm, and I'm hoping
that the vet does not recommend a protocol that will be difficult for the farm
owners and me to follow (I live 25 minutes away, and I work four
afternoon/evenings per week). Got my fingers crossed for a good
outcome.
