RE: [SPAM] Re: [RC] [RC] newbie question re time limits in endurance v. ctr - Jim HollandActually, that's not true. There is no AERC rule that says you have to present within the timeframe of the hold or at ANY specific time. The only rule is that once you have been given an "arrival time", you have 30 minutes to reach pulse criteria. After that, you can present any time you wish. You can't LEAVE the hold until you have presented your horse to the vet, but there is no specific time limit specified in the rules for doing that. Theoretically, you could do the first loop, arrive at the first vet check, meet the 30 minutes pulse criteria and go back to bed. You could present for the first vet check anytime before the ride officially "ends" based on the time allowed for that distance, pass the check and leave on the second loop. You would be pulled for time, but that's perfectly acceptable under AERC rules. Jim, Sun of Dimanche+, and Mahada Magic -----Original Message----- As long as your horse can vet within the timeframe of the hold, you can stay beyond your hold time as long as you want. Obviously you don't want to jeopardize being able to complete in time, but many savvy riders will stay a bit longer if their horse is actively eating, for instance, because getting the food on board will have more benefit on down the trail than what the few minutes extra cost you at the check, particularly on longer rides. Hope this helps. Heidi =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
