I'm guessing our coach was copying this apparently successful formula. What would be really interesting to know for this discussion, would be whether the top 3 teams rode as teams together, or individually. That would help determine whether it was just a fluke that the whole concept worked for the french, or whether there was a management miscalculation as to just what the team should do while they were together. Can anyone out there tell us that? (IMOHO, I think the team method might work well when the horses train together (as I believe the french did) and when it's done in more technical and difficult races, but not work as well in these flat track style races, where let's face it, strategy, conservative pacing and company are not as important as the individual horse's ability to keep up (or even increase) his speed without getting tired or lame.) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
