Re: [RC] riding as a team or not - Truman PrevattRiding off the pace is not uncommon, but they were pretty far off the pace and riding off the pace is not the most efficient for every horse. Some are good starters that hang on, some are very strong in the middle and some move up all along. Making every horse follow the same plan seems a bit odd and quite a bit counterproductive to the best performance. This probably has as much to do with poor coaching as with any "secret winning strategy." But strategy or not - the plan has to stand on it's own merits against what the scoreboard said at the end of the day and at the end of the day the scoreboard showed it not to be so good.Truman Jonni wrote: We can only speculate and guess the game plan of our team riders, until we hear from them directly. But I had wondered when we heard they were all riding together, and somewhat conservatively as to the over all pace, if they had hoped that the more conservative pace might have paid off with the other teams losing horses from the quicker pace, and maybe not having a full "team" to finish, and that hopefully the USA could finish everyone, and possibly be moved up in the team standings when it was all done. -- “Many people consider the things government does for them to be social progress but they regard the things government does for others as socialism.” Earl Warren =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
