Re: [RC] [RC] Horsepool for the Alabama Yellowhammer ride? - REVISED - Jody Rogers-Buttram

Good luck to all of you trying to "double up"   I have tried this is the past and I will say it must not be for me.  I would like to be more of the "buddy" type....but don't think it is in my personality.  Just ask my mother-in-law !!!!  Or those that have ridden with me.  You need to consider this:

Trailering together can cause problems with good friends.  Someone is not on the other guys schedule, takes up too much space, always needs the bathroom, etc.  Sometimes, it may be worth the price of fuel to go alone.  Also, if you are wanting to learn from more experienced people, go to the ride, find some pit crews/riders that have been around the longest....and just watch what they do or don't do.  If it works for them, it most likely will work for you.  It is much less annoying to them (during the ride when they are busy) they to have someone asking a lot of questions.  Not that they don't want to help....just during the ride is not the best time to approach them.   Hit them up before and after, maybe during the dinner and spend some time talking to them then.  I promise....they will ALL be helpful.

Jody and the girls....who will be there at Talladega.

Hey, ya know that totally makes sense...if I was going on my own I would
have to pay all of the gas anyway - Thinking about it that way, it might be
more economical for me to just haul on my own. I have a diesel truck that
is more fuel effecient and cheaper to fill up, plus I don't have a great big
huge trailer to worry about hauling. I was more or less hoping for someone
experienced to go with. I would pay more for the trip to be able to ride to
camp with someone that can tell me a bit about what I have gotten myself
into!

If there is someone who has some experience and would be willing to haul me
and my horse I am game and would pay ALL fuel cost, and sign a waiver about
damages to my horse or me...My horse is a good hauler - 22 years old and
knows the ropes.

Thanks for the good advice!
