[RC] Elbow injury - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Hi Kathy,

I am sorry about your horse's injury. I guess I am lurker on Ridecamp but I
just had to post because my mare recently injured the soft tissue in her elbow
too. Most likely in the pasture playing with another horse in June sometime
(not too severe, grade 1). Anyway, the vet I have been working with told me 30
days stall rest/sm pen rest with bute. No circular work at all like
roundpening or lunging. Cold water therapy always a plus. After the 30 days
rest, start building up to hand walking or ponying straight lines, couple
minutes to start with and continuing to increase time.

We are up to walk/trot lines and she does not seem to have the head bobbing
that she used to, so I am hoping that it works. I bought this mare last
October to do endurance with and was in the middle of breaking her to ride when
it happened, so I do not know how it will turn out for her to become an
endurance horse. Hopefully she will make a full recovery! I don't know if any
of this has helped but I certainly hope your horse pulls through with flying
colors :) It just take time.
