[RC] re: [RC] Ring lights How To Do - Claire Nystrom - Gloria Adams

Hi,

If you want to use Christmas lights I’d say one deep-cycle marine 12 volt battery would be enough to drive a 100 ft string of lights for 3-5 hrs. Then you’d probably have to take the battery home each night to re-charge it. Don’t use a car battery as it won’t last long enough. A deep cycle battery should last you 1 – 1.5 yrs.

You may get either: more than one 100’ string from 1 battery (but it may then be dimmer), or not last as many hrs.

You would just have to play around with it, & add more batteries if necessary.

How to hook it up: cut off the ends & plug of the light string, & strip off the plastic sleeve over the wires - about 1 inch should do it. Then hook any end of the light string to the BLACK (negative) terminal post on the battery first, then the other to the RED (positive) post on the battery. Don’t ever touch those bare wires though.

You might get a small spark at the RED post, when you hook up the RED post, which is normal.

The other option is to buy 2 clear color halogen car driving lights, mount them to the arena & use one deep cycle battery to drive them.

The garden solar lights will not work well at all.

HTH
