So...then basically the 25's are in the main subsidizing the 100's. Quite a
concept - except for then people coming INTO the sport will be bearing the
burden for the others. In truth, the 25 milers need less in terms of hay,
carrots, volunteers, and even the time with the vets. While the difference is
not huge anymore, the slight difference in cost does affect whether or not
someone is willing to drive somewhere "just to take a greenie on a training
ride'. So...have a 25 only one day and then next week have only a 50 - I bet the
50 costs more. Just a thought.
