RE: [RC] Fear - Jeanie BartsonRay- Thanks for sharing that-- It sounds like you really had one bad ride, thankfully you weren't killed (And Chico is lucky you didn't sell him!) Could you elaborate on how you worked through what went wrong - why Chico ran away and how you corrected him from trying that again. Did you just do more ground work/training issues, or did you switch bits or change your style of riding? It's very easy to dwell on the fear and not make pro-active adjustments. I appreciate input and thoughts- I think it may help Jen and those of us starting out to get ideas for preventing the run away horse. I am working through some trail training now myself, and rarely venture out on the trail alone. Of course in RC I have read stories about how some horses run away even when they are with other horses- but I always wonder what the preliminary signs were, if any, and how they recovered, etc etc. Thanks Jeanie -----Original Message----- From: ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:ridecamp-owner@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of jen Sent: Friday, September 16, 2005 2:22 PM To: Ridecamp Guest Cc: ridecamp Subject: Re: [RC] Fear Thanks Ray, I think your right in so many ways. When Chico ran away with me,fell at a full gallop, and rolled over me,I was nearly killed. But I didn't get back into riding by thinking aboutfear,of which I guess I had plenty.I thought about, and tried to find out more about, what went wrong and what I needed to do. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
