[RC] Cost of rides - get LDers to enter multiple times! - Ridecamp GuestPlease Reply to: Sharon Hahn sharon.hahn@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx or ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ========================================== Note in Ed's response below that he offered 2 LDs and 2 CTRs in addition to his endurance ride. In the Midwest, it is very common for people to ride 2-3 LD and/or CTR in one weekend. So even though they are paying less per event(typically about $45), you get multiple entries (and multiple fees!) from people who bring an extra horse or ride 2 days of 25s instead of a one-day 50. I've even seen people ride one horse in an LD that started at 7 am, then get on a second horse and do a CTR with a 1 pm start that same day. Ed Hauser wrote: Yup! Any endurance ride has very high fixed costs. When we did a ride in the MW (which by the way is much less costly) we could break even at 70 entries (for the whole weekend, 2LD, 2CTR, 1 endurance ride) at 98 we could give $1000 to the park have a couple hundred left over to pay for 3-400 hours of work. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
