Does
anyone here supplement their own diet with Magnesium?
I do. I make sure my calcium/magnesium ratio is 2:1 or slightly more
magnesium. The type of magnesium is important also. They say magnesium oxide is
the least absorbable form, magnesium citrate is better. I have noticed that I
feel calmer (not that I am hyper) and for what it's worth, my heart no longer
flutters when I climb a steep hill. Whether magnesium has anything to do with
that, I don't know. But they say magnesium affects muscle contractions.
Years ago, an old vet told me that at the race track they always gave the
horses Epsom Salts (which is magnesium) to keep them sane.
I feed my horses the supplement Mega-Mag. It has more magnesium than other
supplements and when I started using that, I don't have to lunge my horse before
riding. Before the Mega-Mag, he was a snorting, bucking fool that needed lunging
before I hit the trail.
I get the Meg-Mag (they also sell Magesium 3000) from United Vet Equine www.unitedvetequine.com .
