We have always used 100% wool western blankets
between the horse and OF panels, even with the booties. Turn the blanket
each time used and wash frequently. Have spare blankets to change at each
vet check, especially in humid areas. If the blanket tends to bunch during
use, put a layer of drawer anti slip stuff between the saddle and the
blanket. The antislip stuff can be purchased at auto stores, for the
heavyier duty variety.
This has worked for us since '94 on numerous
horses.
