Re: [RC] Girly Trucks - Laney HumphreyI've had the opposite experience. When I bought my first truck maybe 10 years ago, I expected to be snubbed and talked down to. So I did lots of research beforehand. When I walked in and described exactly what I was interested in seeing, I was always taken seriously and treated with respect. I don't know where you live; I live in CA & out here, at least in the urban areas, salespeople know better than to treat women customers less well than men. We may pay $3.24 for diesel but we get lotsa respect.Laney Mary Krauss wrote: When I went truck shopping a few years ago, I could not get a salesperson to talk to me. I started worrying that I hadn't showered after my run or had failed some other subtle hygiene test. This happened at 4 different dealerships. Please understand, I've bought all 4 of our previous cars with nary a problem. Finally I caught on: they simply could not believe that a woman could or would buy a truck without her husband around. Once my husband tagged along to the Chevy dealership, we were nearly trampled by eager salesmen. I enjoyed the moment when he pointed to me and said something to the effect of, "I'm just here for company; she's the one buying the truck." Even at that they kept addressing him.... =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
